Overview
The Procurement Officer will collect, analyse, and report on information to maximise efficiency of procurement operations and activities. The role supports or manages procurement programs and operational activities, including issuing tenders, evaluating offers, and awarding contracts.
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute towards the development of procurement plans and processes.
- Support or manage procurement programs and operational activities.
- Track and analyse data to provide recommendations for process improvement.
- Collate data and contribute to preparation of accurate and timely reports of procurement activities.
- Collate information and draft appropriate responses to recommendations to support auditing of procurement activities.
- Work in close collaboration with internal counterparts and external partners.
- Support training of WFP staff on procurement.
- Guide and supervise more junior staff.
- Follow standard emergency preparedness practices.
- Act in an assigned emergency response capacity as required.
Required Experience
- Typically three years or more of postgraduate professional experience in a relevant field of work, with a background and interest in international humanitarian development.
- Experience with procurement activities (purchasing, vendor research, etc.).
- Experience conducting cost analyses.
- Experience working with vendors or other partners.
- Experience in complex procurement cases (including food, construction projects, cash-based transfers) and committee submissions.
- Experience in cross-functional coordination and stakeholders management.
Qualifications
Advanced University degree in Economics, Commerce, Business Administration, Engineering, Legal or Accounting or other relevant field, or First University degree with additional years of related work experience and/or training/courses.
