Overview
The Security Intern will support the strengthening of security risk management, compliance monitoring, and staff preparedness across IOM Cameroon offices.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the collection, analysis, and consolidation of security information.
- Support updates of Security Risk Management (SRM) measures, Mission Security Plans (MSP), and area‑specific security advisories.
- Participate in field risk assessments.
- Support follow‑up on compliance with SRM measures.
- Assist with security compliance checklists.
- Support in monitoring the implementation of UNSMS standards and SRM measures.
- Contribute to tracking of corrective actions, non‑compliance, and audit recommendations.
- Support documentation of safety observations, workplace hazards, and corrective recommendations.
- Support the compilation and analysis of security and safety incidents.
- Assist with the weekly and monthly security situation reports, maps, and trend analysis.
- Assist in organizing security briefings, warden system updates, fire drills, and emergency preparedness exercises.
- Help prepare awareness materials.
- Support the development of learning materials.
- Contribute to maintaining the Security SharePoint.
- Support the preparation of CONOPS, staff movement tracking tools, and mission‑planning documents.
- Assist with documenting procurement needs for security equipment.
Qualifications
• Be enrolled in the final academic year of a Bachelor’s degree or Master’s level in Security Studies, International Relations, Political Science, Crisis Management, Disaster Risk Reduction, Public Administration, or any relevant discipline OR be enrolled in a graduate programme (second university degree or equivalent) OR have graduated within the past 12 months in one of the above fields.
