Overview
The Gender Policy Analyst in Economy and Private Sector will contribute to the strategic coordination, technical implementation, and knowledge development of the Prosperity portfolio, ensuring alignment with UNDP's strategic plans and regional priorities on sustainable finance and inclusive growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to strategic planning and provide technical and administrative follow-up of the regional portfolio.
- Ensure articulation and coordination with other Regional Hub Teams and global teams.
- Support key administrative processes, including drafting Terms of Reference and procurement follow-up.
- Prepare strategic inputs for internal coordination meetings and management reports.
- Ensure regional capacity-strengthening processes for Country Offices in core areas of the Prosperity portfolio.
- Design, update, and facilitate regional training sessions.
- Provide technical accompaniment to Country Offices in the implementation of global and regional tools.
- Facilitate regional knowledge exchange and peer learning spaces.
- Provide specialized technical assistance to financial institutions to integrate gender equality.
- Support pre-audit and audit processes under the Gender Equality Seal for Financial Institutions.
- Contribute to ESG due diligence processes and risk analysis.
- Provide technical advisory services to companies and investors seeking to reduce gender gaps.
- Develop executive reports, comparative analyses, strategic briefs, and presentations.
- Coordinate with Country Offices in the implementation of Business for Gender Equality programmes.
- Support the implementation of gender-transformative value chain programmes.
- Facilitate training processes using corporate methodologies targeted at SMEs.
- Update and adapt the SDG Value Chain Toolkit.
- Design and produce strategic knowledge products.
- Systematize evidence, results, lessons learned, and stories of change.
- Promote innovation within the Prosperity portfolio.
- Support the development of regional innovation communities.
- Support regional and sectoral advocacy spaces.
- Strengthen communities of practice related to the Gender Equality Seal.
- Establish and maintain strategic partnerships.
- Contribute to resource mobilization efforts.
- Identify new funding opportunities, programmatic synergies, and partnerships.
- Perform other duties as required by management.
Required Experience
- Minimum 2 years (with a master’s degree) or 4 years (with a Bachelor’s degree) of relevant experience at the national or international level in economic development, gender equality, private sector development, sustainable finance, SMEs and/or inclusive economic policies in developing country contexts.
- Experience providing technical advisory services to governments, financial institutions, private sector actors and/or development partners is required.
- Proven experience and strong technical knowledge of gender equality and women’s economic empowerment in the areas of private sector development, sustainable finance, value chains and/or inclusive growth.
- Demonstrated ability to design and deliver capacity development initiatives.
- Proven analytical experience, including the ability to produce policy briefs, technical reports and strategic presentations.
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate multiple workstreams and manage deliverables under tight timelines.
- Strong partnership and stakeholder engagement experience.
- Experience and sound understanding of ESG, sustainable finance and/or gender-responsive economic policies.
- Demonstrated ability to promote knowledge sharing and contribute to communities of practice.
- Experience in administrative, financial and logistical knowledge of the United Nations.
- Experience supporting regional or multi-country programmes within international organizations is desirable.
Qualifications
- Advanced university degree (master’s degree or equivalent) in Economics, Finance, Business Administration, Public Policy, Gender and Development, Social Sciences, or related fields, is required.
- or A first-level university degree (bachelor’s degree) in the areas mentioned above in combination with an additional 2 years of qualifying experience, will be given due consideration in lieu of the advanced university degree, with an understanding of gender and development.
