Overview
The Security Coordination Associate will support the development and establishment of an effective communications process to inform staff about security risk management activities. The role involves managing knowledge platforms, developing communications materials, and coordinating with various actors within the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the development, review, and dissemination of security content.
- Publish approved security policy and operating standards.
- Develop targeted communications products, both printed and digital.
- Maintain a listing of prescriptive content items and analyze existing content and needs for new content.
- Facilitate the clearance of content by relevant senior managers.
- Make arrangements and support the translation of approved content in French and Spanish.
- Provide support in generating substantive input for security reports.
- Support communications efforts related to crisis and emergency response.
- Support reporting and analytical processes related to security compliance and oversight.
- Assist in the collection, analysis, and application of security information.
- Assist in the development of relevant tools for security information gathering and analysis.
- Review, edit, and disseminate training materials.
- Maintain the SO SharePoint site, including developing new content and formatting multimedia content.
- Implement regular online outreach to the online community via newsletter and other online tools.
- Track visitors to the site and identify needs to improve visibility.
- Coordinate with UNDP security to gather input from the field.
- Prepare summaries of network discussions.
- Coordinate in-house response to queries.
- Actively support and contribute to knowledge networks and professional communities.
Required Experience
- Minimum seven (7) years (with secondary education) or four (4) years (with bachelor’s degree) of progressively responsible experience in security risk management is required.
- Basic understanding of information technology related to content development; management of collaboration sites and functionality is required.
- Knowledge and experience in the effective use of desktop publishing software is required.
- A proven track record of report writing, editing, and product design for varied audiences is required.
- Completed training in Security Analysis is an asset.
- Experience with the development of prescriptive content is an asset.
- Experience in providing communications efforts related to crisis and emergency response is an asset.
Qualifications
- Secondary Education is required.
- University degree (bachelor’s degree or master’s equivalent) in Communications, Security Information Management, Modern Languages, International Relations, or relevant fields will be given due consideration, but is not a requirement.
- Applicable security, police, and/or military training is desirable.
