Overview
The Electrical Engineering Technician - Associate supports the planning, implementation, and supervision of electrical engineering infrastructure projects, ensuring quality, safety, and timely execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide input to project work plans, drawings, and specifications.
- Monitor construction activities on-site for compliance with design standards, technical specifications, and contractual obligations.
- Conduct quality inspections, verify materials, and supervise safety and environmental standards.
- Support the resolution of technical and operational issues.
- Verify contractor progress, prepare and review Interim Payment Certificates (IPCs).
- Review change orders and cost claims.
- Support timely delivery of on-site progress reports, updates, and construction milestone documentation.
- Participate in coordination with end-users, contractors, consultants, and local authorities.
- Organize and attend project meetings, prepare minutes, and follow up on action points.
- Monitor compliance with contractual obligations of the supervising company and construction contractor.
- Monitor progress and report deviations from approved schedules and work plans.
- Provide periodic updates on inspection and testing plans.
- Support the preparation of technical and progress reports.
- Prepare inspection reports or conduct on-site inspections.
- Provide support to project administration, procurement, and logistics.
- Contribute to contract and asset management, payment tracking, and procurement documentation.
- Support the organization of meetings, field visits, and workshops.
- Maintain accurate project document records, financial data, and correspondence.
- Identify administrative or operational bottlenecks and recommend corrective actions.
- Support the organization, facilitation, and development of training and learning sessions.
- Participate in knowledge sharing initiatives and Communities of Practice (CoPs).
Required Experience
- 2 to 6 years of relevant experience in electrical engineering during building construction, site supervision, or infrastructure project management.
- Experience in electrical engineering for quality control, monitoring, and reporting within construction projects.
- Demonstrable proficiency in using collaboration and productivity tools (e.g., MS Office, G-Suite) and web-based management systems.
- Desirable: Experience working in multicultural environments or UN system organizations in a developing country.
- Desirable: Experience in development or humanitarian aid contexts.
- Desirable: Experience in project documentation, report writing, and technical communication.
Qualifications
- Secondary education (or equivalent) with 6 years of relevant experience; OR
- Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering, Electromechanical Engineering, Industrial Installations Engineering, or related disciplines, with 2 years of relevant experience.
- Desirable: A recognized professional certification or membership in an electrical, electromechanical, or industrial installations engineering association.
