Overview

The Gender Specialist will provide technical expertise and advisory support to integrate gender equality into UNICEF's programming and institutional work in Jordan.


Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical expertise and gender advisory support in development and humanitarian programming.
  • Integrate gender equality into country programme planning and implementation.
  • Support data collection, documentation, analysis, and preparation of inputs for strategic planning.
  • Provide technical support for evidence-based gender-responsive programming.
  • Advance implementation of prioritized gender equality programming.
  • Track and incorporate gender equality indicators and measures in programme and policy initiatives.
  • Collaborate on gender mainstreaming in the workplace.
  • Collaborate on drafting and delivery of gender equality communications and advocacy messages.
  • Provide technical support in indicator identification, measurement, and performance tracking.
  • Participate in cross-sectoral collaboration and coordination on gender equality results.
  • Provide technical support in research, evidence generation, and reporting on gender equality results.
  • Support documentation and sharing of country-level experiences and good practices.
  • Strengthen the use of disaggregated data and gender analysis.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to partners on gender equality programming.
  • Report and follow-up on international and regional gender equality commitments.
  • Engage in needs assessment/humanitarian missions on gender equality.
  • Liaise and consult with sections, government, and external partners to support integration and develop partnerships.
  • Support building and maintenance of internal and external partnerships and networks.
  • Support building and maintenance of strategic alliances for equality.
Required Experience
  • At least 7 Years of working experience in gender and inclusion in an area relevant to UNICEF’s sectoral work with preference on Protection, Gender Based Violence, Adolescent Girl Empowerment.
  • Experience in designing, implementing, managing, and delivering results-based programs/projects on gender and adolescent girl empowerment, especially at country/field level.
  • Experience in humanitarian response is an asset.
Qualifications

Master's degree in social sciences (i.e. sociology, gender studies, demography, psychology, political science, social policy or economics).
