Overview
The Deputy Medical Director will contribute to the strategic governance of the medical department, oversee the management of medical referents, and lead key dossiers within the department. This role involves defining medical vision and priorities, ensuring quality of care, and supporting medico-operational coordination.
Key Responsibilities
- Define the medical vision and priorities of the department.
- Prioritize and oversee the development and adaptation of medical policies, strategies, guidelines, standards, and tools.
- Ensure quality of care and foster innovation.
- Guarantee the efficiency and accountability of medical support to operations.
- Support operational cells in project launch and establishment of working groups.
- Provide direct line management to Brussels-based medical referents.
- Oversee performance evaluation and recruitment of medical referents.
- Provide technical leadership in research and drive development of research and innovation.
- Act as a permanent member of the Operational Research Committee.
- Ensure visibility and prioritization of medical training ambitions.
- Ensure strategic oversight of Quality of Care.
- Coordinate specific internal circles and support others.
- Review and validate medical guidance, policy documents, and technical outputs.
- Serve as focal point for telemedicine.
- Oversee Information and Knowledge Management within the department.
- Represent MSF OCB at the executive board of MSF access.
- Act as sponsor of one intersectional collaborative platform.
- Contribute to the identification of public speaking priorities and medical communication topics.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of networks with external experts.
Required Experience
- Minimum of 4 years of MSF international medical experience in low- or middle-income countries is mandatory.
- Experience as medical coordination is a strong asset.
- Experience in headquarters as medical referent or in managerial medical positions is an asset.
- Research experience is a strong asset.
- Training and mentoring (pedagogical expertise) is an asset.
Qualifications
- Medical doctor degree
- Diploma or master’s degree in public health or epidemiology is an asset
