Overview
Serves as a technical specialist in charge of actions and projects of UNESCO’s Culture programme in Brazil, including the management of technical cooperation projects in the field of cultural heritage and/or museums and collections.
Key Responsibilities
- Provides technical input on tangible and intangible cultural heritage, cultural diversity, and areas covered by the Culture programme, with a focus on museums and collections.
- Participates in identifying cultural policy needs and preparing action proposals and project documents.
- Seeks partnerships and prepares technical documents for cooperation agreements.
- Contributes to the design, management, and implementation of programme activities and projects.
- Systematizes evaluations and prepares document revisions using project management tools.
- Provides technical support for terms of reference and supervision of consultants.
- Participates in sector and inter-sector planning processes.
- Disseminates good practices and results in cultural heritage and diversity.
- Organizes meetings, workshops, conferences, and other events.
- Orients, manages, and reviews the completion of duties conducted by Programme Assistants.
- Supports the Culture unit with communications and programmatic reporting.
Required Experience
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in applying theoretical knowledge in the specific area related to this job description.
- Previous experience in planning and implementation of programme and projects with governmental and/or non-governmental institutions in the field of culture, preferably, in cultural heritage and/or museums and collections.
- Experience in managing technical cooperation projects’ activities and expenditures, at national and international level, preferably at multilateral agencies.
- Experience in international organization as well as knowledge of UNESCO or UN will be an asset.
- Previous experience in procurement processes within the UN System or other international cooperation organizations will be highly valued.
- Broad and up-to-date knowledge of specific themes within UNESCO’mandate for culture.
Qualifications
- Advanced University degree (equivalent to Masters or Post-graduate studies) in human or social sciences, international relations, management or culture related fields or equivalent.
- Desirable pos-graduation or research in the field of culture.
- Specialized training or courses in the fields related to this position.
