Overview
Supports the Chief in managing the WASH section and leads the development, preparation, management, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the WASH programme within the country programme. Delivers authoritative advisory services to government counterparts and sector support agencies.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development, preparation, management, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the WASH programme.
- Provide technical guidance and management support throughout all programming processes.
- Deliver authoritative advisory services to government counterparts and sector support agencies.
- Interact with government representatives at senior levels and with senior staff of International Development Banks.
Required Experience
- A minimum of eight years of professional experience in WASH-related programmes for developing countries is required.
- One year of deployment in a developing country is required.
- At least six months of work in humanitarian situations, including one three-month deployment mission (with UN-Govt-INGO), is required.
- Additional direct experience with UNICEF Climat Environment and Energy (CEE) programming is strongly preferred.
- Emergency field experience working in large scale humanitarian situations is an asset.
- Relevant experience at country level, particularly in development, fragile settings and humanitarian contexts.
Qualifications
- An advanced university degree in one of the following fields is required: public health, social sciences, behavior change communication, sanitary engineering or another relevant technical field.
- Additional relevant post-graduate courses that complement/supplement the main degree are required.
