Overview

The National Environmental Finance Analyst will provide technical and project-related support to implement finance solutions identified through the BIOFIN process to achieve finance results in the country.


Key Responsibilities
  • Contribute to the preparation and periodic review of the National Biodiversity Finance Plan.
  • Lead the end-to-end planning and execution of complex finance solutions.
  • Collaborate with government counterparts to identify, design, and implement context-specific finance solutions.
  • Foster and maintain strategic partnerships with stakeholders.
  • Support the preparation of key project documents.
  • Review and provide feedback on technical documents.
  • Participate in field missions and stakeholder engagements.
  • Contribute to the development of tailored guidance materials, knowledge products, and resource mobilization proposals.
  • Supervise and provide technical guidance to national consultants.
  • Integrate gender equality and sustainable livelihoods considerations into the design and delivery of biodiversity finance solutions.
  • Facilitate a community of practice among public and private finance actors.
  • Strengthen the technical capacity of national stakeholders.
  • Organize knowledge-sharing sessions with partners and stakeholders.
  • Contribute to global, regional, and national technical workshops, webinars, conference calls, and online discussions.
  • Actively contribute to resource mobilization efforts.
  • Document, analyze, and share best practices and lessons learned.
  • Contribute to the development of case studies and knowledge products.
  • Support the ongoing refinement of BIOFIN methodologies, tools, and guidance materials.
  • Provide high-quality inputs for national progress reports.
  • Actively support the dissemination of the project’s results and achievements.
  • Support the identification, engagement, and strengthening of strategic partnerships and resource mobilization efforts.
  • Support coordination, stakeholder consultations, dialogue platforms, and multi-stakeholder mechanisms.
Required Experience
  • Minimum 2 years (with master’s degree) or 4 years (with bachelor’s degree) of relevant experience in the areas of public or private sector finance, sustainable development/biodiversity finance, resource mobilization, biodiversity conservation, natural resource management, or a related field;
  • Prior experience in designing or implementing sustainable finance mechanisms or projects;
  • Experience in working with governments and/or private sector on sustainable finance;
  • Prior experience in the development of knowledge materials would be an advantage;
  • Experience with UNDP policies, procedures, and practices particularly to project development and implementation and/or working experience in an international organization/UN Agencies is an advantage;
  • Previous experience in the private sector and local governments is an advantage;
  • A specialization in sustainable finance and development, or other closely related field, is an advantage.
Qualifications

Advanced university degree (master's degree or equivalent) in Economics, Business Administration, Finance, Political Science, Environmental Science, or any other related fields on Environment and Finance is required. OR A first-level university degree (bachelor’s degree) in the areas above, combination with an additional two years of qualifying experience will be given due consideration in lieu of the advanced university degree.
