Overview
The Telecommunication Associate ensures the installation and maintenance of Digital Mobile Radio (DMR) and Analogue radio networks, and supervises/maintains SOC infrastructure across the country.
Key Responsibilities
- Install and maintain DMR infrastructure and wireless interconnects.
- Monitor DMR infrastructure and conduct field preventive maintenance.
- Ensure reliable SCS support and support emergency field missions.
- Install satellite phones and backup solar power solutions.
- Install and maintain telecom towers.
- Maintain call signs and SEL/CALLs database.
- Provide radio programming services and guidance to other agencies.
- Set up and implement SCS SOPs and provide radio communication training.
- Assist in technical evaluation of equipment and monitor VHF radio networks.
Required Experience
- A minimum of 7 years (with high school degree) or 4 years (with Bachelor’s degree) of relevant experience in the Telecommunications/ICT field is required.
- At least 2 years of experience within a UN AFP ICT team is desired.
- Prior experience with the UN system or an international NGO is desirable.
- Experience in the use of radio communications systems is desirable.
- Proven ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously is desired.
Qualifications
Secondary School education is required, OR; University degree (Bachelor’s degree) in Information Technology, Computer Science, similar/related fields.
