Overview

The intern will support the Donor and External Relations Section at OHCHR’s Representation Office to the European Union in Brussels in fulfilling its mission to protect human rights.


Key Responsibilities
  • Researching and preparing reports, briefing notes and other written documents on donor intelligence matters.
  • Supporting project implementation, with a special emphasis on supporting colleagues for timely monitoring and reporting on selected projects.
  • Contributing to the preparation of high quality project proposals and related information.
  • Attending, on behalf of OHCHR, relevant meetings and consultations with partners in the region.
  • Perform other duties as requested by the Office Team.
Required Experience

No working experience is required to apply for the United Nations Internship Programme. However, any prior work/internship experience at the UN, NGO or private sector would be an asset.

Qualifications

Applicants must be enrolled in the final academic year of a first-level university degree programme (i.e. Bachelor's degree or equivalent degree); be enrolled in a graduate school programme (i.e. Master's degree or equivalent degree, or higher) or have completed an aforementioned academic degree, preferably in the area of international relations, business, marketing, journalism, communication, social sciences or a related field.

Fluency in English is required.
Languages Preferred
Knowledge of French is an asset. Knowledge of another United Nations official language would be an advantage (i.e. Arabic, Chinese, Russian or Spanish).

From 3 to 6 months

Remuneration
Interns are not financially remunerated by the United Nations. Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions.
