Overview
The Human Rights Intern will support the OHCHR East Africa Multi-Country Office (MCO) in fulfilling its mission to protect human rights and assist those responsible for upholding them.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and analyze human rights developments and trends.
- Research and draft internal and external notes and reports.
- Prepare daily news updates on the human rights situation.
- Support the dissemination of international standards and OHCHR activities on social media.
- Support engagement with UN human rights mechanisms.
- Assist in integrating human rights perspectives in development policies.
- Assist with the organization of workshops and seminars.
- Participate and take notes in meetings/conferences.
- Support the organization of meetings and events.
- Perform other duties as requested by the supervisor.
Required Experience
No working experience is required to apply for the United Nations Internship Programme.
Qualifications
- Enrolled in the final academic year of a first-level university degree programme (i.e. Bachelor's degree or equivalent degree).
- Enrolled in a graduate school programme (i.e. Master's degree or equivalent degree, or higher).
- Have completed an aforementioned academic degree, preferably in the area of law, human rights, international relations, public administration, political science, social sciences or a related field.
