Overview
International Consultant to support OHCHR Mozambique to assess the Mozambican Armed Forces’ institutional framework compliance with international human rights standards.
Key Responsibilities
- - Support OHCHR Mozambique to assess the Mozambican Armed Forces’ institutional framework compliance with international human rights standards;
- Develop a standard operating procedure on a human rights thematic area in line with international standards (home-based);
- Organize in collaboration with OHCHR and the Ministry of Defense of Mozambique a consultation workshop on the SOP in-country (Maputo);
- Integrate inputs and feedback from the validation workshop into the Draf SOP (home-based);
- Liaise as needed with relevant OHCHR staff in Mozambique, the Regional Office in Southern Africa and OHCHR Headquarters;
- Ensure that a gender perspective is integrated in all areas of work;
- Perform other related duties as required.
Required Experience
A minimum of ten years of relevant work experience is required. Knowledge of human rights issues related to the armed forces is required. Experience in SOPs development and implementation is required. Experience working with armed forces is desirable.
Qualifications
Advanced degree in law, political science, international relations, social sciences or related field. A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying work experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
