Overview
The International Consultant (Circular Economy Expert) will conduct a desk-based gap analysis of environmentally sound management (ESM) standards for recycling facilities in four countries and facilitate national consultations to formulate recommendations for improving waste management systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop a detailed workplan, including concept notes, TORs, risk management, and safeguards.
- Participate in the WasteNet Regional Workshop and provide technical inputs.
- Conduct a desk-based gap analysis of national ESM standards against international requirements.
- Design and facilitate national consultations with various stakeholders.
- Prepare country-specific reports and a consolidated regional brief.
Required Experience
- A minimum of 7 years in Circular Economy (CE), waste policy, or environmentally sound management (ESM) of recycling.
- Experience relevant to the project activity.
- Experience with regulatory gap analysis.
- Experience with multi-stakeholder consultations.
- UN experience is desirable.
- Gender/human resource (HR)/leave no one behind (LNOB) mainstreaming experience is desirable.
- In-country experience is desirable.
Qualifications
- An advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in a field related to Circular Economy, Waste Management, or Sustainability.
- Alternatively, a first-level university degree in the aforementioned fields in combination with two (2) additional years of qualifying work experience.
