Overview

The role involves co-creating or leading data projects, supporting capacity building, and developing data and analytics products using advanced data science models to support UNICEF's core programmes and emergency response.


Key Responsibilities
  • Co-create or lead on data projects
  • Support capacity building where applicable
  • Develop data & analytics products
  • Primarily using cutting-edge data and data science models
  • Support horizontal initiatives across UNICEF’s core programmes on health, education, WASH and country climate initiatives
  • Support the Office of Emergency Programmes with data for regional and country based emergencies
  • Create Air Quality Model for Malaysia
Required Experience
  • At least 10+ years of relevant work experience in Project Management, Data Engineering, Data Management, Data Analysis
  • Experience in Data Visualization and Data Science/Machine Learning
  • Strong experience in senior stakeholder engagement, facilitation, and project management
  • Solid understanding of data visualization techniques and best practices, particularly within the EAP region
  • Previous experience working with UNICEF
  • Previous experience on climate data projects
  • Robust data science skills
  • Deep knowledge of agile methodologies, user-centered design and data management best practices
  • Knowledge of satellite imagery and geospatial data engineering is a plus
  • Comfortable working in a dynamic, collaborative team environment
  • Strong experience in Project and Stakeholder Management, preferably within the East Asia Pacific region
  • Demonstrated experience designing and developing compelling, and actionable data visualization products using modern data visualization tools like Tableau or PowerBI
  • Demonstrated ability to convey insights and key messages from large, complex datasets clearly, quickly, and effectively to drive action
  • Demonstrated data analysis skills and data science skills, especially in the social, public, development, or humanitarian sector
  • Strong experience with building conversational agents using Large Language Models, and Gen AI
  • Experience using Computer Vision and Deep learning models on Satellite images
  • Proven experience in supporting and coordinating project activities across a large organization and with other international partner organizations across multiple stakeholders
Qualifications

• Masters In Computer Science, Data Science, Applied Mathematics or equivalent
