Overview
The Driver will provide reliable, safe, and professional transportation and logistical support to the World Bank's Country Office in Bissau, Guinea-Bissau, ensuring the smooth day-to-day functioning of the office and effective delivery of operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive teams to meeting venues and field trips under high professional attitudes.
- Use tact and professionalism to deliver the Office daily assignments in very good and required conditions, according to World Bank procedures.
- Follow road security and safe driving requirements to ensure that staff aboard Bank vehicles feel safe and secure.
- Stay alert and anticipate actions during Senior Management Visits.
- Maintain assigned vehicle clean in good condition, recorded mileage and gasoline consumption.
- Anticipate any mechanical issues with the assigned official vehicle.
- Collect and disseminate all correspondences to Government and other Stakeholders daily and carry visa requests to relevant Embassies.
- Follow up on tax exemptions at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and VAT exemptions, as well as vehicle registration for license plates.
- At ministries and embassies, use tact and diplomacy to deal with difficult cases.
- Perform any fiduciary tasks the Admin Unit may assign.
Required Experience
- At least five years of driving experience with knowledge of auto mechanics.
- Good geographical knowledge of Guinea-Bissau.
- Familiarity with other countries in the Senegal Country Management Unit (Senegal, Cabo Verde, Mauritania, and The Gambia) and the sub-region will be an asset.
- Experience working in an international institution would be an advantage.
Qualifications
- High school diploma.
- A valid document for driving in the sub-region, a driver’s license for 4x4 vehicles and minibuses, and a recent certificate of fitness proving that the candidate is fit to drive.
- A training certificate from the Red Cross on first aid would be an asset.
- A certificate of training in auto mechanics and any other relevant technical training in electronics or electricity would be an asset.
