Overview
The WASH Officer – Hydrogeology will support the analysis of existing data for groundwater and surface water monitoring in Madagascar and suggest measures for strengthening monitoring. The role aims to collate hydrogeological, hydrological, and climate variability data to produce an updated hydrogeological map and identify gaps in monitoring networks and partner capacity.
Key Responsibilities
- Undertake literature research and review documentation on surface and groundwater.
- Catalogue reports and collate surface water, meteorological, and groundwater data.
- Collate information on surface and groundwater use by sector and forecast water demand.
- Document hazards to water supply and identify risks.
- Catalogue relevant partners in the water sector and assess their capacities.
- Organize regular meetings with key stakeholders.
- Develop an updated hydrogeological map using GIS.
- Develop a well-structured database.
- Report on findings, gaps, priorities, recommendations, and work plan.
Required Experience
- 3 years of relevant experience.
- Skills in Hydrogeology, handling, analysing, and presenting hydrological and hydrogeological data using GIS.
- Skills in programme management and ability to communicate and present verbally and in written form.
- Ability to work in a transdisciplinary team.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Hydrogeology or a related field.
