Overview

The Safeguards Technology Expert (Open Source) collects, analyses and reports on information related to the nuclear fuel cycle to deepen the IAEA's understanding of nuclear proliferation. The role participates in the development of the Collaborative Analysis Platform (CAP).


Key Responsibilities
  • Create analytical products to support a robust implementation of IAEA safeguards verification activities.
  • Carry out analysis of open source information including technical publications to answer questions.
  • Discuss with Department staff on questions raised during field activities or analysis of safeguards data and seek answers using information analysis tools.
  • Review the analytical reports of other colleagues and collaborate with them in collecting and analysing information.
  • Present and explain advanced analysis, including Palantir investigations, to office staff and the management.
  • Participate in the Departmental initiative related to Palantir and the Collaborative Analysis Platform (CAP).
  • Develop analytical workflows and resultant products for use within the Department of Safeguards.
Required Experience

Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in the civilian or military nuclear industry, in safeguards, in non-proliferation or in a related field. Demonstrable experience in information analysis is required.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree - Nuclear science or engineering (including chemistry, physics or electronics/ instrumentation), computer science, international relations / political science or a related field.

Knowledge of other official IAEA languages (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian and Spanish) is an asset.

Remuneration
tax-free annual net base salary starting at US $71335 (subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance), a variable post adjustment which currently amounts to US $ 38664*, dependency benefits, rental subsidy, education grant, relocation and repatriation expenses; Other benefits include 6 weeks' annual leave, home leave travel, pension plan and health insurance.
