Overview
Provide sign language interpretation services for discussions, announcements, conversations, meetings, events, and other spoken word situations. Facilitate effective communication with staff and partners, and provide orientation in emergency situations.
Key Responsibilities
- Interpret discussions, announcements, conversations, meetings, events, and other spoken word situations using the appropriate manual sign language system.
- Accurately interpret signs into fluent Ethiopian sign language.
- Provide information and orientation in emergency situations to the staff members.
- Facilitate effective communication with the staff member as well as with colleagues in UNICEF and partners.
- Utilize technology when necessary to transcribe speech to text for the staff member.
Required Experience
At least 3 years or more demonstrated experience in providing sign language interpretation in the public sector, professional context. Experience in providing sign language interpretation in emergency contexts is an asset.
Qualifications
Certified Sign Language interpretation.
