Overview
The Intake Specialist assists community members seeking to access IRC services by conducting eligibility screenings, sharing program information, connecting eligible individuals with services, and referring them to external providers. The role also involves community outreach to raise awareness of IRC programs and improve referral pathways.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct in-person and virtual outreach to relevant communities and organizations.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge and eligibility criteria for all IRC programs.
- Conduct eligibility screenings for walk-in clients.
- Support client enrollment into programs and refer ineligible clients to community resources.
- Detail each client interaction in accordance with established requirements.
- Input client information in database(s) and assist with tracking and reporting.
- Collaborate effectively with coworkers and partner organizations.
- Build and maintain relationships with area service providers.
- May train and lead the activities of support staff, volunteers, and interns.
- Other duties as assigned, including translation of materials and interpretation for client-staff conversations, as needed and as capacity allows.
Required Experience
Relevant professional experience in human services field required; minimum of 2 years’ experience strongly preferred. Experience working with refugee and/or immigrant populations strongly preferred.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in social work or related field of study preferred.
