Overview
Internship opportunity focused on drug research for the World Drug Report, involving data review, literature searches, and data presentation.
Key Responsibilities
- Review datasets and reports to update data on size estimates of people who inject drugs, living with HIV and hepatitis C.
- Conduct literature reviews on drug use and health consequences.
- Assist in validation of compiled data and information.
- Assist with reference management and formatting for written outputs.
- Assist in presenting compiled data in graphs and tables.
- Assist in coordination of tasks related to the World Drug Report.
Required Experience
Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience. A field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is required. Some prior experience of research in drug use and health issue related research would be an asset.
Qualifications
- Be enrolled in, or have recently completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); OR be enrolled in, or have recently completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent).
- Be computer literate in standard software applications. Knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Power Point is essential.
- Degree in public health, epidemiology, sociology, political science, or a related field, with an academic focus on epidemiology of substances use or related areas of studies will be desirable.
- Have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter.
- Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs.
