Overview

The Cross-Border Knowledge Management Intern will support the Governance and Peacebuilding portfolio of the Resilience Hub for Africa in strengthening policy analysis, programme development, and knowledge management related to governance, conflict prevention, and social cohesion in the Horn of Africa.


Key Responsibilities
  • Support knowledge tracking and repository management, including establishing and maintaining a structured knowledge repository on cross-border issues, identifying, collecting, organizing, and cataloguing knowledge products, maintaining and updating a central repository, and developing a directory of key actors and institutions.
  • Develop and manage the Great Lakes Cross-Border Monitor by conducting monthly research, compiling, analyzing, and drafting the publication, and tracking and synthesizing regional trends.
  • Conduct thematic analysis on cross-border dynamics by analyzing developments across sectors, identifying emerging trends, risks, and opportunities, and producing consolidated analytical inputs.
  • Support knowledge dissemination and stakeholder engagement by preparing and disseminating the Cross-Border Monitor, engaging with institutions, supporting the preparation of communication materials, and facilitating knowledge sharing.
  • Contribute to knowledge products and programme support by synthesizing analytical findings, maintaining updates of the repository, supporting programme teams with evidence-based inputs, and contributing to documentation of outputs, lessons learned, and knowledge outputs.
Required Experience

Demonstrated interest in governance, peacebuilding, or development policy. Experience in research, policy analysis, or communication for development or academic writing is desirable. Familiarity with governance and conflict dynamics in Africa is an advantage.

Qualifications

Enrolled in a postgraduate degree programme (such as a master’s programme or higher); OR enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (such as a bachelor’s degree or equivalent); OR recently graduated with a university degree in Political Science, International Relations, Development Studies, Peace and Conflict Studies, Governance and Public Policy, Law or related disciplines; OR enrolled in a postgraduate professional traineeship programme and undertake the internship as part of this programme.
