Overview

The Protection Team Leader - Child Protection will be responsible for the technically sound day-to-day implementation of DRC’s Child Protection programming for children, caregivers, and their communities in Tripoli. They will line manage a team of 11 protection staff.


Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate with the Program Manager in recruitment processes for team members.
  • Ensure that all team members fulfil their role as per their job description.
  • Execute performance management of team members.
  • Support professional development of team members.
  • Organise efficient field presence and workload distribution among team members.
  • Encourage a positive, inclusive and mutually supportive team spirit.
  • Coordinate leave plans and schedules.
  • Demonstrate advanced knowledge and understanding of CP concepts and programming.
  • Apply knowledge and enable technical quality control and advancement of team members.
  • Running regular technical supervision for case management teams.
  • Coaching on technical topics and skills for team members.
  • Delivering trainings on CP topics for other DRC sectors and CP stakeholders.
  • Under guidance and supervision of the Program Manager, plan and oversee implementation of CP activities.
  • Ensure compliance with CP Minimum Standards, DRC Child Protection policy and applicable DRC Global and ALT Protection guidance and SoPs.
  • Lead team members in following Protection information management (PIM) principles.
  • Providing data analysis and reporting.
  • Lead CP contribution of ongoing service mapping exercises and community analyses.
  • Engage in bilateral and coordination relationships with counterparts and stakeholders.
  • Provide mentorship for direct reports in day to day implementation tasks.
  • Plan and coordinate logistics and movements.
  • Initiate procurements in accord with procurement plan.
  • Ensure distribution plans are prepared and shared with logistics.
  • Manage the team’s cash advances and cash for protection activities.
Required Experience

Minimum 3 years of practical experience working for an NGO, INGO, a UN agency or other duty bearer in Protection. INGO experience in humanitarian response and protection, especially child protection or other programmes working with children (e.g. MHPSS) is highly preferred. Demonstrable competence in people management, with preference for proven management experience at minimum mid level for an implementing team. Past experience in emphasizing practical field experience and doing technical supervision in Protection and preferably Child Protection Case Management is a strong advantage.

Qualifications

A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in a field relevant to Child Protection operations such as social work, psychology, education etc.
