Overview

The Programme Analyst will support UN Women’s engagement in intergovernmental processes with a focus on meaningful youth participation and intersectional inclusion. The role will support the collection and analysis of evidence, innovative practices, and good models generated by civil society actors and marginalized youth to inform global norm-setting.


Key Responsibilities
  • Provide partnership support to UN Women’s intergovernmental engagement.
  • Support partner engagement in the monitoring and analysis of intergovernmental processes relevant to gender equality, human rights, and non-discrimination.
  • Draft analytical and advocacy materials.
  • Support the integration of marginalized youth, including LGBTIQ+ issues, and intersectional non-discrimination perspectives into intergovernmental discussions and normative frameworks.
  • Support coordination with UN Women country and regional offices.
  • Provide support to youth and human rights.
  • Contribute to system-wide attention to discriminatory social norms.
  • Provide support to the engagement with UN human rights mechanisms and independent experts.
  • Support civil society engagement with UN Special Procedures, Treaty Bodies, and Independent Experts.
  • Support the facilitation of participation of youth-led CSOs in human rights treaty body review processes.
  • Contribute to information exchange and collaboration between New York- and Geneva-based experts, UN Women Regional and Country Offices, and HQ divisions.
  • Advance youth and civil society engagement in decision-making spaces.
  • Support initiatives that promote participation and leadership of young women, girls, and gender-diverse youth in intergovernmental forums.
  • Support the design and implementation of initiatives and capacity-building opportunities for youth and feminist organizations.
  • Contribute to the coordination between Geneva-based human rights advocacy and global youth engagement platforms.
  • Support implementation of the Push Forward Strategy and GEAP priorities.
  • Contribute to operationalizing the Push Forward Strategy’s focus on protection, participation, and resourcing of feminist movements.
  • Align work with GEAP priority areas.
  • Support activities related to UN Women’s forthcoming Action Plan on LGBTIQ+ equality and rights.
  • Compile and document impactful practices and lessons learned from youth- and LGBTIQ+-inclusive engagement with civil society.
  • Provide support to knowledge management, coordination, and reporting.
  • Contribute to knowledge generation and awareness raising on human rights, youth, and non-discrimination.
  • Maintain updated databases of key partners, resolutions, and intergovernmental outcomes.
  • Support internal coordination, monitoring, and reporting on activities, results, and contributions to the Strategic Plan indicators.
  • Perform other duties within their functional profile as deemed necessary.
Required Experience
  • At least 2 years of progressively responsible work experience in gender equality and multilateral spaces is required.
  • Experience working with UN system and inter-agency coordination is desirable.
  • Experience in results-based programme planning and management is desirable.
  • Experience in the usage of computers and office software packages (MS Word, Excel, etc.) and spreadsheet and database packages, experience in handling of web-based management systems is required.
Qualifications
  • Master's degree (or equivalent) in international development, public administration, public policy, or other relevant social science field is required.
  • A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.

Knowledge of another official UN language is desirable (French, Arabic, Chinese, Russian or Spanish).
