Overview
Support the Making Trade Happen (MTH) project and other initiatives focused on market entry and trade development, building the capacity of SMEs to navigate global trade landscapes and export to the UK market.
Key Responsibilities
- Facilitate the development, implementation and evaluation of assigned programmes/projects.
- Monitor and analyze specific aspects of programme/project development and implementation.
- Review relevant documents and reports; identify problems and issues and recommend corrective actions.
- Liaise with relevant parties and identify and track follow-up actions.
- Carry out basic research on selected aspects of programmes, operations and other activities.
- Collect, analyze and present statistical data and other information gathered from diverse sources.
- Provide substantive support for policy coordination and evaluation functions.
- Assist in performing consulting assignments by planning and facilitating workshops and interactive sessions.
- Assist in developing action plans for clients to manage change.
- Participate in survey initiatives; assist with design of data collection tools.
- Issue data collection tools, review, analyze and interpret responses.
- Identify problems/issues and prepare preliminary conclusions.
- Contribute to the preparation of various written outputs, e.g. draft background papers, analytical notes, sections of reports and studies, inputs to publications, brochures, web stories, quarterly newsletters.
- Provide administrative and substantive support to consultative and other meetings, conferences, etc.
- Undertake outreach activities; participate in the development of training workshops, seminars, etc.
- Participate in and make presentations on assigned topics/activities.
- Participate in field missions, including provision of substantive and administrative support, data collection, etc.
- Coordinate activities related to budget funding and preparation of related documents/reports.
- Perform other duties as required.
Required Experience
A minimum of two years (four years with a first level degree) of progressively responsible experience in project/programme management, administration or related area is required. Experience in the UN common system is desirable. Experience supporting SMEs in Africa and the Middle East, in particular in Jordan and/or Nigeria and/or Zimbabwe is desirable. Experience developing communication material is desirable. Experience planning and organizing trade events and buyers trade missions is desirable.
Qualifications
An advanced (Masters or equivalent) university degree in business administration, management, economics or a related field. A first level university degree in the above subjects in combination with an additional two years of qualifying experience may be considered.
