Overview

This internship is hosted by the United Nations Office for Disarmament Affairs (ODA) through its Conventional Arms Branch (CAB). The intern will work under the overall guidance of the Chief of CAB and the direct supervision of the Internship Coordinator.


Key Responsibilities
  • Draft and prepare official documents, including summaries, talking points, speeches, remarks, and web content
  • Attend meetings and conferences and prepare summaries
  • Conduct research, including document, media, and internet searches
  • Provide substantive and logistical support during meetings and conferences
  • Perform other related duties as required
Required Experience

Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience.

Qualifications

Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or (b) be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent). Interested candidates must be pursuing or pursued their degree in areas related to this Job Opening.

Languages Required
Fluency in spoken and written English is required for the internship.
Languages Preferred
Knowledge of an additional official UN language is an advantage.

Remuneration
This internship is unpaid and is designed to be full-time and in-person at the New York duty station. Interns are not financially remunerated by the United Nations. Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions.
