Overview
The World Food Programme (WFP) Bangladesh seeks a consultant to conduct a comprehensive Value Chain Analysis (VCA) across selected agricultural and livelihood sectors in the Chittagong Hill Tracts to support evidence-based planning and future programming.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct a comprehensive analysis of selected agricultural and livelihood value chains across Rangamati, Khagrachhari, and Bandarban districts.
- Identify priority commodities and value chains with potential for improving livelihoods, resilience, food security, and market integration.
- Analyze market systems, supply chains, and actor relationships.
- Assess key constraints and bottlenecks affecting value chain performance.
- Assess the functionality and accessibility of markets in remote and hard-to-reach areas.
- Identify opportunities for strengthening aggregation models, storage systems, rural logistics, market information systems, and buyer linkages.
- Assess gender, youth, protection, and social inclusion dimensions within selected value chains.
- Examine opportunities for local procurement and institutional market engagement.
- Identify opportunities for climate-smart and resilience-oriented interventions.
- Provide practical, sustainable and prioritized recommendations for WFP, Government counterparts, and partners.
- Perform tasks as assigned.
Required Experience
At least 5 years of overall experience, including 3 years of Professional Experience (managerial or supervisory) in areas related to Value Chain Analysis, Market Systems Development, Rural Livelihoods, Agribusiness, Food Systems Programming or other relevant fields. Within these 3 years of professional experience, a minimum of 1 year of experience must be after postgraduation.
Qualifications
Completion of Advanced University Degree (Master’s or equivalent) is required. Education in Agricultural Economics, Agribusiness, Supply Chain Management, Rural Development, Development Studies, Economics, Food Systems or any relevant field is preferable.
