Legal Officer

Overview

The European Commission is seeking a Legal Officer to provide legal support and advice on the Common Fisheries Policy and Integrated Maritime Policy, as well as in the international context.

Key Responsibilities

• - provide legal advice to relevant MARE units and hierarchy on the internal dimension of the Common Fisheries Policy and Integrated Maritime Policy, as well as on the external dimension
• - support policy units in the preparation and implementation of relevant legislation and implementing acts
• - support the Legal Service of the Commission in cases before the CJEU
• - handle complaints, Pilots and infringement cases
• - co-ordinate and provide advice on access to document requests and State aid consultations
• - deputise for the DG MARE Data Protection Co-ordinator.

Required Experience

Previous experience with legal advice, international negotiations, complaints, pilots and infringements, access to documents, State aid consultations and/or data protection is highly desired. Knowledge of and experience with the Common Fisheries Policy and/or International Ocean Governance would be an advantage.

Qualifications

At least a level of education which corresponds to completed university studies of at least 3 years attested by a diploma. Only qualifications issued or recognised as equivalent by EU Member State authorities will be accepted.
