Overview

This internship provides support to the UN-Habitat office in the implementation of administrative and operational activities, focusing on finance, budget, procurement, human resources, and general office administration.


Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with finance, budget, and other administrative support functions, including the preparation and processing of relevant documentation.
  • Support procurement and contract administration processes.
  • Provide assistance in human resources activities, including recruitment, personnel administration, onboarding, and record management.
  • Contribute to the effective functioning of general office administration and day-to-day operational activities.
  • Organize, maintain, and update electronic and physical filing systems, databases, and other information management tools.
  • Assist in drafting and formatting correspondence, reports, meeting minutes, presentations, and other official documents.
  • Support the collection, compilation, verification, analysis, and presentation of data and information for reporting and decision-making purposes.
  • Provide logistical and administrative support for meetings, workshops, missions, and other office events.
  • Conduct basic research and compile information on topics relevant to the office's work.
  • Perform other related duties and assignments as required.
Required Experience

Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience. However, a field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is required.

Qualifications

Applicants must at the time of application, meet one of the following requirements: a. Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher), b. Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum Bachelor's level or equivalent), c. Have graduated with Bachelor's degree, Masters, PhD or equivalent. Be computer literate in standard software applications (Microsoft Office Suite). Have demonstrated a keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter. Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs. Preferred areas of study: Cycle Management, Monitoring and Evaluation, Public Communications / Journalism / Publication Management, Administration / Finance / Procurement / HR Management and related.

Knowledge of another UN language is desirable.

Remuneration
Interns are not financially remunerated by the United Nations. Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions.
