Overview

Contribute to security and safety contingency and continuity planning for the office, and liaise with UNDSS and in-country security management apparatus.


Key Responsibilities
  • Contribute to security and safety contingency and continuity planning.
  • Support standardization and implementation of plans and ensure emergency systems are regularly tested.
  • Liaise with UNDSS and in-country security management apparatus.
  • Attend security operations management meetings.
  • Provide operational support for MOSS and MORSS compliance.
  • Responsible for all facilities access control measures and procedures.
  • Provide support to the management of security budget including procurement planning.
  • Responsible for management of security equipment.
  • Maintain liaison with Human Resources Unit regarding security staffing matters.
  • Collect information about local security developments, issues and potential impact.
  • Prepare accurate and timely reports.
  • Provide security orientation briefing to newly arrived staff.
  • Support training activities.
  • Support the supervisor during emergencies.
Required Experience

At least one (1) year of relevant professional experience in security management and managing complex security operations, preferably in conflict or post-conflict settings. Proven experience in engaging armed actors, government bodies, and communities to facilitate humanitarian access. Skilled in team management, mentoring junior staff, and supervising contracted services in high-risk settings.

Qualifications

A first University Degree in Security Management, International Relations or Law Enforcement or other relevant field, OR Advanced University degree in a similar field.

Fluent knowledge (proficiency/level C) of English and Somali language.
Languages Preferred
Knowledge of UNSMS policies and protocols is a strong asset.
