Overview
The Project Analyst-Gender and Safeguards supports day-to-day operations and ensures quality assurance in project implementation, focusing on gender and environmental/social safeguards.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform day-to-day management/coordination of projects, including developing annual work plans and budgets, monitoring implementation, and preparing reports.
- Coordinate activities among partners and other stakeholders, establishing coordination mechanisms and facilitating meetings.
- Lead the implementation of the project's Environmental and Social Management Plan/Framework (ESMP/ESMF) and other Safeguards instruments, ensuring compliance with UNDP Social and Environmental Standards (SES) policy.
- Serve as the Grievance Redress Mechanism (GRM) focal point.
- Validate and update the project's Social and Environmental Screening Procedure (SESP).
- Ensure full disclosure of SES instruments with concerned stakeholders.
- Identify, avoid, mitigate, and manage environmental and social risks.
- Implement and monitor the Indigenous Peoples Plan (IPP).
- Ensure safeguards and gender considerations are integrated into training.
- Facilitate knowledge management and sharing, including assessing strategy and action plans, managing stakeholder expectations, and contributing to knowledge networks.
Required Experience
- Applicants with a Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) are required to have a minimum of two (2) years of relevant professional experience in project coordination, monitoring, and reporting or implementation support within development programmes/ projects.
- Desired skills include experience in project management, stakeholder engagement, gender mainstreaming, implementing environmental and social safeguards, and working with UN/UNDP/donor agencies.
Qualifications
Advanced university degree (master’s degree or equivalent) in Gender Studies, Social Sciences, Development Studies, Public Policy, Environmental/Social Safeguards, Disaster Risk Management, Early Warning System, Climate Change Adaptation, or related fields is required. OR A first-level university degree (bachelor’s degree) in the areas mentioned above, in combination with an additional two years of qualifying experience, will be given due consideration.
