Overview

The WBG Pioneer - Labor Economist Intern will support the Social Policy team in Brussels in various areas related to knowledge-sharing, collaboration with European Institutions, event organization, analytical tasks, and project delivery.


Key Responsibilities
  • Facilitate knowledge-sharing on innovative solutions to complex issues by curating learning materials, developing case studies, and organizing information.
  • Support engagement with European Institutions, including the European Commission.
  • Play a key role in organizing seminars, workshops, conferences, and other events.
  • Be an active participant in People’s communities of practice and contribute to corporate priorities.
  • Conduct literature reviews and synthesize research findings.
  • Draft background papers, working papers, reports, and policy papers.
  • Contribute to the publication and dissemination of research findings.
  • Participate in business trips and meetings, collect and interpret project-related information and data.
  • Contribute to cross-sectoral analytical activities and efforts to develop holistic World Bank solutions.
  • Maintain regular interactions with task teams and collaborators to ensure smooth communication.
Required Experience
  • 0–6 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Experience working with European institutions, notably the European Commission (EC), would be an advantage.
Qualifications

Currently enrolled in, or in the final year of, a postgraduate (master’s/PhD) program.

Languages Required
Excellent oral and written communication skills in English, with ability to tailor communication style to meet audience needs and to deliver information effectively.
Languages Preferred
Expertise in ECCEU priority issues, such as aging, long-term care, migration, skills/jobs or just transition, would be an advantage. Knowledge of data management / statistical software packages such as STATA, R or Python would be an advantage.
