Overview

The role will support WFP Iraq's work on nutrition-sensitive social protection and food systems, including evidence generation, food security monitoring, and school meals. The Technical Advisor will provide technical guidance and leadership to operationalize WFP’s nutrition-sensitive social protection approach.


Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the design and implementation of WFP’s nutrition-sensitive social protection framework in Iraq.
  • Conduct a mapping of Iraq’s social protection system and develop a proposal identifying integration opportunities.
  • Support the implementation of the proposal by providing technical guidance and oversight.
  • Contribute and provide technical inputs to the Fill the Nutrient Gap (FNG) and Cost and Affordability of a Healthy Diet (CoAHD) studies and modeling.
  • Develop knowledge materials including policy briefs and presentations.
  • Support capacity strengthening to the Government of Iraq.
  • Lead the design and integration of food security and nutrition questions and indicators into survey tools.
  • Identify opportunities for partnerships and collaboration.
  • Contribute to EU JP reporting and SP Unit weekly updates.
  • Provide specialized food systems and nutrition expertise.
  • Work with national staff to build food systems and nutrition knowledge.
Required Experience

Minimum 10 years of experience in social protection, nutrition, or public sector systems in low- or middle-income countries, with demonstrated contributions to programme design, policy development, or research.

Qualifications

Advanced degree (master’s or higher) in International Development, Public and/or Social Policy, Nutrition, Economics, Public Administration, or a related field.

Knowledge of Arabic is an advantage.
