Overview

The Child Protection Field Officer is responsible for implementing child protection activities and contributing to the ICRC's response to the protection needs of children affected by conflict in Northeast Nigeria.


Key Responsibilities
  • Contribute to understanding child protection needs, institutions, and policies in NE Nigeria through field work, community discussions, assessments, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Analyze issues affecting children, identify objectives and priorities, and propose ICRC responses.
  • Establish referral pathways for affected children and coordinate with stakeholders like UNICEF, UNHCR, MoWASD, and local NGOs.
  • Foster communication with other departments for a multidisciplinary response to child victims of conflict.
  • Report and follow up on Child Protection issues and individual cases.
  • Plan and organize field trips for Child Protection activities.
  • Travel in the field for assessments and meetings.
  • Participate in case documentation, information collection, and analysis for Protection concerns regarding children.
  • Conduct individual and collective interviews with stakeholders and beneficiaries.
  • Produce qualitative reporting, minutes, and Field Trip Reports.
  • Report on project implementation and prepare written reports for the Deputy Protection Coordinator and Child Protection delegate.
  • Produce data and situation analysis to ensure effectiveness and relevancy of ICRC activities.
Required Experience

4 years' experience in Protection/Tracing with very good knowledge of Child Protection guidelines, protocols, laws and procedures. Experience working with children facing armed conflict related vulnerabilities/protection concerns.

Qualifications

University degree in a relevant field, preferably in the field of law or social work.
