Overview

This internship is located in the UN Trade and Development (UNCTAD) within the Division on International Trade and Commodities. The programme aims to enhance educational experience and gain experience in the work of the Organization.


Key Responsibilities
  • Conducting legal and economic research on emerging issues in competition and consumer protection laws and policies.
  • Assisting in the drafting of background papers for intergovernmental meetings and presentation materials.
  • Attending meetings and preparing summary reports.
  • Contributing to the organization of webinars and technical cooperation activities.
  • Assisting in the implementation of technical cooperation programs.
  • Performing other related duties as required.
Required Experience

No working experience is required for this internship. Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience.

Qualifications
  • Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) Be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or, (b) Be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor's level or equivalent).
  • University degree must be in the area of economics, development, law, political science or other social sciences deemed appropriate.

The Internship Programme is unpaid. Interns are not financially remunerated by the United Nations. Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions.
