Overview

The Programme Data and Geospatial Analyst will ensure effective information management and coordination within the mine action program by providing field-level information and geospatial data management support.


Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the analysis and integration of Earth Observation data into programme planning and operational activities.
  • Design and implement GIS-based mechanisms and spatial data workflows for farmer support programmes.
  • Ensure compliance with data security protocols and beneficiary confidentiality requirements.
  • Serve as the primary programme-level liaison with the ARM Unit.
  • Develop comprehensive cartographic materials and interactive GIS products.
  • Manage landbank data to inform programme design.
  • Coordinate technical collaboration with IT and GIS specialists from partner organizations.
  • Provide expert support to FAO activities within the Soil Pollution Working Group.
  • Provide GIS and spatial data support for operational assessments and surveys.
  • Provide day-to-day technical guidance to the GIS Intern.
  • Support FAO’s engagement with the JICA/GRIT Agricultural Recovery Pilot.
  • Promote the digitalization of mine action processes.
Required Experience

At least 5 years of relevant experience in GIS, geospatial data management, or information management, with a strong emphasis on integrating Earth Observation data and developing interactive spatial products. Proven experience working in emergency, humanitarian, or recovery contexts, ideally within mine action, agricultural recovery, or land clearance programs, and familiarity with international humanitarian data protection principles.

Qualifications

University degree in geographic information systems (GIS), geomatics, remote sensing, data science, computer science, or a closely related field.
