Overview

The role involves leading the integration of Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI) across all components of the ADAPT Jamaica project, ensuring alignment with project and organizational policies. The specialist will support inclusive project planning, implementation, monitoring, and reporting, with a focus on empowering vulnerable groups.


Key Responsibilities
  • Support project decision-making mechanisms and processes.
  • Participate in the methodological approach of the project.
  • Lead the implementation of the project’s Gender Action Plan (GAP).
  • Lead the implementation of a gender analysis in the project’s target areas.
  • Provide technical support on gender-responsive planning and budgeting.
  • Ensure policy alignment with FAO, GCF, and national gender policies.
  • Design and deliver capacity building and awareness sessions on gender sensitization and prevention of GBV/SEAH.
  • Facilitate inclusive and participatory stakeholder engagement.
  • Coordinate with designated Gender Focal Points from relevant ministries and institutions.
  • Promote gender-equitable participation and partnerships with local organizations.
  • Develop and implement tools for sex-disaggregated data collection and analysis.
  • Contribute to regular project reporting by integrating gender and social inclusion aspects.
  • Support the implementation of the project’s Grievance Redress Mechanism (GRM).
  • Identify gender-related risks and propose mitigation strategies.
  • Develop communication materials promoting gender equality and social inclusion.
  • Collaborate with other technical specialists and participate in project activities.
  • Perform any other related duties as required.
Required Experience

At least 5 years of relevant experience in development projects or programmes focusing on gender equality, women’s empowerment, and social inclusion.

Qualifications

University degree in social sciences, gender studies, development studies, or a related field.
