Overview
The World Bank Group (WBG) Pioneer - Research Intern will conduct comparative legal and applied economic research related to laws and regulations affecting women's economic empowerment. The role involves data collection, analysis, stakeholder management, and supporting dissemination activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct country and/or topic specific research on legislation impacting women’s economic empowerment.
- Deliver updated information for WBL indicators, assessing survey responses and following up with respondents.
- Conduct broader research on specific indicator topics addressing women’s rights.
- Produce comparative data analyses related to assigned indicators.
- Support the systematic archiving, organization, and maintenance of legal information and documents.
- Organize and manage project tasks for the implementation of the Enforcement Perceptions Pillar data collection.
- Prepare presentations and briefing documents for management and stakeholders.
- Support annual data and report production, documentation and writing, data analysis, and communication.
- Conduct econometric analysis of WBL data and draft research outputs.
- Assist with contributor outreach, including administering surveys and leading new local partners’ recruitment.
- Maintain and expand partner relationships.
- Update contributor data and reporting systems.
- Support the identification and engagement of Government Focal Points.
- Assist with the expansion of the National Statistical Offices contributor base.
- Prepare presentations, talking points, briefing materials, outreach documents, newsletters, and training resources.
- Develop and implement social media and communications strategies.
- Measure reach of dissemination activities via media monitoring and reporting.
- Support the planning, organization, and coordination of WBL hybrid events and dissemination activities.
- Provide general support to the project, as required.
Required Experience
A minimum of 2 years of post-graduate relevant work. Ph.D. in Economics preferred. Experience with comparative legal research and understanding of comparative family law, labor and employment law, and/or violence against women laws preferred. Demonstrated research and econometric analysis skills on comparative policy issues and understanding of substantive issues in one or more of the areas covered by the WBL report. Background in, or experience working on, women’s health, rule of law, or rights of vulnerable groups including women with disabilities is a plus. Highly experienced in managing complicated workflows and competing timelines.
Qualifications
Applicant must be J.D., LL.M. or master’s degree candidate in Economics, Political Science, Public Policy, or equivalent. Ph.D. in Economics preferred.
