Operational Pharmacist Mobile Implementation Officer (f/x/m) – Nairobi or Brussels – MSF Belgium

Overview

The Operational Pharmacist Mobile Implementation Officer will provide operational support and technical guidance for pharmacy activities in MSF projects, focusing on stock management, Good Pharmacy Practice (GPP), and Good Distribution Practice (GDP).

Key Responsibilities

• Support Operations in all pharmacy-related activities, offering technical guidance and proposing practical solutions.
• Assist project teams in ensuring high-quality standards in good pharmacy practice and end-user pharmacy management.
• Ensure continuity of the pharmaceutical strategy in countries, including setting up storage and managing constraints.
• Adhere to and promote international and OCB policies related to quality assurance and medical items management.
• Evaluate and implement pharmacy management tools to improve activities.
• Support teams in drafting and implementing rational Medical Standard Lists.
• Verify and streamline the use of non-standard items.
• Provide support for medical order preparation, annual review of operations, and forecast development.
• Collect and liaise on monthly Pharma SITREP and CAPA reports.
• Monitor compliance with OCB standard policies, procedures, and tools for pharmacy activities.
• Coach and support country and project pharmacists, especially in complex contexts.
• Ensure pharmacists understand OCB expectations and responsibilities.
• Deliver on-the-job training and ensure knowledge transfer on new policies, protocols, guidelines, and tools.
• Provide guidance on pharmacy tools, procedures, and documentation to relevant staff.
• Participate in Medical Department and Pharmaceutical Unit meetings and contribute to cross-functional collaboration.

Required Experience

• Minimum of three years of MSF project experience.
• Minimum 6 months of international MSF experience across several projects and contexts.
• Experience implementing good storage and distribution practices and good pharmaceutical practices.
• Hospital pharmacy experience is an asset.
• Clinical pharmacist experience is an asset.

Qualifications

• Pharmacy degree (or equivalent, depending on the country where the qualification was obtained).
• Registered pharmacist.
