Overview
The Asylum Services Navigator directly supports asylum seekers and other migrants in navigating the U.S. asylum system and accessing essential services. This role involves conducting intakes, providing information and resource navigation, and facilitating referrals.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive intake interviews with asylum seekers and other migrants.
- Determine eligibility for program services.
- Explain program services, client rights and responsibilities.
- Participate in outreach and intake pop-up events.
- Provide accurate and up-to-date information about the asylum process and available resources.
- Assist clients in navigating complex systems and accessing essential services.
- Develop individualized service plans and facilitate referrals.
- Assess clients' immediate needs and flag urgent concerns.
- Conduct comprehensive needs assessments.
- Collect and maintain accurate client data.
- Utilize the electronic database and newcomer management system.
- Contribute to program reports and evaluations.
- Support the front desk by receiving and responding to walk-in clients.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Experience
- Experience and demonstrated excellence as an Asylum Services Navigator in the WA MASS Project.
- Experience in case management, social services, or a related role working directly with asylum seekers or other vulnerable populations.
- Experience with data entry, collection, and virtual case management preferred.
Qualifications
- Relevant degree or equivalent experience.
- Lived experience as an asylee, refugee, or immigrant is preferred.
- Valid driver’s license and insurance.
