Overview

The Finance Assistant will be responsible for performing financial duties within the Office of the Special Envoy of the Secretary-General for Yemen in Sana'a.


Key Responsibilities
  • Review invoices and supporting documents for conformity with UN Financial Regulations and Rules.
  • Coordinate timely disbursement of payments.
  • Maintain records of invoices, claims, local advances, receivables, and payables.
  • Provide payment and transfer details to local banks.
  • Coordinate with imprest/petty cash custodians for local cash disbursements.
  • Assist in preparing financial reports, including weekly imprest/petty cash status, year-end closing, monthly expenditure reports, and periodic financial schedules.
  • Monitor budget implementation and expenditures.
  • Review funds commitments, obligations, and expenditures.
  • Respond to queries from staff and vendors regarding financial transactions.
  • Maintain archives for financial records.
Required Experience

A minimum of five (5) years of experience in Accounting, Finance, or related area is required. The minimum years of relevant experience is reduced to three (3) for candidates who possess a first level degree or higher. Experience in SAP or similar enterprise resource planning system is required. Proficiency in MS Excel is required. A minimum of two (2) years of experience working with the United Nations Systems is desirable. Experience in management of imprest funds/petty cash is desirable. Experience in processing payments to vendors is desirable.

Qualifications

A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Technical or vocational certificate in Accounting or Finance is required.
