Overview
The Cultural Mediator will provide cultural mediation services and direct support to newly arrived individuals in Italy, focusing on survivors of trafficking. The role involves identifying specific needs and facilitating referrals to relevant services.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide cultural mediation during information sessions (group and 1-on-1).
- Deliver information on rights and duties, focusing on asylum procedures and anti-trafficking.
- Inform individuals about available services based on their specific needs.
- Conduct outreach to identify needs and vulnerabilities.
- Identify persons with specific needs and facilitate referrals.
- Gather data for protection monitoring activities.
Required Experience
- Previous experience in cultural mediation/interpretation.
- Previous experience in providing information sessions to migrants and asylum seekers.
- Previous experience in working with trafficking survivors.
Qualifications
- Good knowledge of the Italian legal system linked to the international protection procedure.
- Good knowledge of the survivor-centered, trauma-informed approach, child-centered approach.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Ability to use the internet and other digital tools for data entry, research and problem-solving purposes.
- Valid driver’s license is strongly preferred.
