Overview

The incumbent acts as the principal nursing officer at the health center, supervising and providing technical support to nursing and non-paramedical staff. The role ensures the smooth running of the electronic medical record system and assists in the administration of the health center.


Key Responsibilities
  • Acts as principal nursing officer at the health center and supervises, directs in addition of providing technical support to staff nurses, Practical nurses, midwifes and non paramedical staff (clerks & cleaners) according to the program’s technical instructions and is responsible for their annual performance evaluation;
  • Ensures the smooth running of the electronic medical record system, including training of nursing staff, replacement of needed equipment and computers, communication, backup system; ensures proper recording on the electronic medical records system and required registers in accordance with practice policy;
  • Supervises the process of data collection, analysis, reporting of nursing activities, and follow up of defaulters’ patients and supervises the activities of home-visits to check on the health status of patients as well as defaulting (where applicable);
  • Assists the supervisor in the administration of the health center; controls and keeps records of vaccine stock, family planning stock, medical supplies, furniture, equipment, uniforms, stationary, cleaning supply and surveyed items.as well as ensures their continued availability;
  • Directs and participates in all activities including cross cutting issues (GBV, disability .....etc.) to ensure that health services are provided within the Family Health Team Approach context and according to the Technical Instructions (TIs);
  • Resumes Staff Nurse and midwife responsibilities when Staff Nurse and midwife is not available at the Health Centre; and performs periodic IUD insertion and checkups after insertion according to the rules and regulations in the host country;
  • Supervises and provides technical guidance to nursing staff and non-paramedical staff, conducts on the job training of supervised staff and participates in the in-service course as and when required;
  • Supervises a high standard of infection control to ensure safety of staff and clients; supervises and monitoring the conducting of triage nursing services; as well as controls, keeps a high standard of cleanliness and hygiene in the health center; keeps and proper implementation of medical waste management;
  • Performs other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.
Required Experience

At least four years of progressively responsible and relevant work experience as a qualified nurse is required. One year experience in nursing services at supervisory level, working experience in the provision of primary health care and Ability to use computer and understanding of its usage in health applications are desirable.

Qualifications

Successful completion of secondary school. A university degree or at least three years in nursing studies from an accredited educational institution. A valid license to practice nursing in the country of duty station (where applicable).

Contract Duration
Fixed Term Appointment for 1 year; including 1 year probation period, with the possibility of further extension, subject to the availability of funds, satisfactory performance, and continuing need.

Remuneration
Monthly basic salary USD 1,431.50, payable in JD at UN monthly exchange rate. Other benefits include monthly Provident Fund contribution (15.4% of basic salary paid by the Agency), compulsory medical insurance, 30 days of annual leave, and dependency allowance (if applicable). Additional benefits: 2 days of sick leave for each completed month of service. 14 weeks of Maternity Leave. 2 weeks paternity leave.
