Overview

The internship in the International Trade and Integration Division of ECLAC, Santiago, Chile, will contribute to the communication and outreach activities of the Division, particularly those related to its projects, publications and events on international trade and regional integration.


Key Responsibilities
  • Researching, compiling and organizing information on the Division’s projects, publications, technical cooperation activities and events; drafting and editing website articles, news items, social media posts, event announcements, invitations and short institutional summaries;
  • Adapting technical and research-based content into concise and accessible messages for non-specialist audiences;
  • Supporting the preparation and implementation of communication plans for publications, projects, conferences, seminars and workshops; preparing visual communication materials, including presentations, social media cards, infographics, charts, banners, programmes and other digital products;
  • Supporting the updating of the Division’s website, social media channels and other digital communication platforms, in coordination with the relevant ECLAC units;
  • Assisting with the dissemination of reports, policy briefs, statistical products and other knowledge products prepared by the Division;
  • Supporting the organization and communication coverage of conferences, seminars, workshops and meetings, including the preparation of agendas, participant information, photographs, summaries and follow-up materials;
  • Attending meetings and events and preparing concise summaries, key messages and communication inputs;
  • Maintaining and updating mailing lists, contact databases, calendars of activities and digital archives of communication products;
  • Compiling basic website, newsletter and social media statistics and preparing periodic summaries of communication performance;
  • Monitoring relevant institutional websites, media and social media channels to identify opportunities to disseminate the Division’s work;
  • Supporting the translation and adaptation of communication materials in Spanish, English and French, when required;
  • Performing other communication and outreach-related tasks as requested by the supervisor.
Required Experience

Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience. However, a field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is required.

Qualifications

Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent). (b) be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher). Applicants must be a student in the final year of the first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), Master’s or Ph.D. Programme or equivalent, or have completed a Bachelor’s, Master’s or PH.D. Programme.

Remuneration
