Overview

Support data management and quality assurance tasks for the Quality of Life Index, including survey review, data cleaning, and processing.


Key Responsibilities
  • Support data cleaning, processing, organization, and review activities related to the Quality of Life Index.
  • Assist with data entry, dataset management, and basic validation processes.
  • Support organization and maintenance of datasets, spreadsheets, and related documentation.
  • Assist in identifying inconsistencies, missing values, and data quality issues.
  • Review localized and translated survey forms for consistency, formatting, and completeness.
  • Support quality checks related to multilingual survey materials and datasets.
  • Assist with survey-related technical and administrative follow-up tasks, as required.
  • Support routine data quality checks and documentation updates.
  • Assist in preparing basic tables, summaries, and data outputs.
  • Provide miscellaneous technical and backstopping support to the Quality of Life Initiative team, as required.
Required Experience

Experience in data cleaning, processing, and analysis is required. Prior experience in data support, research, or analytical roles is desirable.

Qualifications

Applicants must at the time of application, meet one of the following requirements: a. Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher), b. Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum Bachelor's level or equivalent), c. Have graduated with Bachelor's degree, Masters, PhD or equivalent. Be computer literate in standard software applications (Microsoft Office Suite). Have demonstrated a strong interest in the work of the United Nations and a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter. Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs. Preferred areas of study: Currently enrolled in, or recently completed, a degree in data science, statistics, urban studies, development studies, GIS, economics, geography, or a related field. Applicants must be a student in the final year of the first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), Master’s or Ph.D. Programme or equivalent, or have completed a Bachelor’s, Master’s or Ph.D. Programme.

Fluency in oral and written English is required.
Languages Preferred
Knowledge of Arabic is desirable. Knowledge of another UN language is desirable.
Contract Duration
4 months with possibility of extension.

Remuneration
Interns are not financially remunerated by the United Nations. Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions.
