Overview
To provide efficient and safe transportation services to senior WFP personnel, high-level UN officials, and visitors, and/or to support the coordination of related transport services.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide transport services to senior WFP personnel, high-level UN officials, and visitors, including translating simple conversations from and to the local language, and delivering and collecting miscellaneous items, following the authorized itinerary and adhering to UN security regulations and rules to ensure a safe and efficient service.
- Plan and assign itineraries and schedules for other drivers, to promote efficient transport services for clients.
- Receive official personnel and visitors at the airport or other points of arrival, and provide basic assistance with visa processing and customs formalities, to facilitate a smooth and secure arrival and entry to the authorized destination.
- Take care of carefully maintaining the vehicle logbook and reporting daily to the supervisor on the mechanical condition of the vehicle, to ensure efficient vehicle use and fuel consumption, contributing to accurate accounting and cost-efficiency.
- Efficiently plan and coordinate the maintenance of WFP vehicles, to ensure that they are fully equipped with travel authorizations and necessary supplies and that the assigned equipment on board is in good condition to provide a safe and efficient service.
- Follow established regulations and rules for deliveries in the field and/or in case of accident, and immediately report any manifest problem to the supervisor, to request instructions and facilitate informed decision-making on how to proceed.
- Apart from driving duties, perform basic office-related tasks, such as filing, photocopying, and keeping stores in order as appropriate, including mail service and payment of telephone bills and other office bills, to provide administrative support to clients.
- Be the FleetWave focal point regarding vehicle administration data at the national level.
- Track the FUELAPP system with other drivers for its effective management.
- Be the UN BOOKING HUB focal point for office mobility reservations at the national level.
- Be the MYFLEET tool focal point for all matters related to FUELAPP and UNBOOKING HUB support.
- Be the Vehicle Tracking Systems (VTS) focal point for tracking vehicles at the national level.
- Register the maintenance of each vehicle and track workshops at the national level.
- Be the backup to assume responsibility for covering the functions and tasks of the fleet manager, for vacations and/or leave.
Required Experience
Three years minimum of work experience as a driver/chauffeur, preferably in an international organization, an embassy, or the UN system, with a demonstrated safe driving record. Experience driving various makes and models of vehicles, including vans, trucks, and other types of motor vehicles. Experience in defensive driving will be an asset.
Qualifications
Completion of secondary education cycle. Official training as a driver and a valid license or certificate to drive the assigned vehicle applying local regulations and rules.
