Overview
The National Fisheries Specialist will provide technical expertise for the implementation of project activities related to the fisheries sector, focusing on fish grading and branding.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess and document the technical, socio-economic, and operational characteristics of the fisheries sector.
- Lead and support data collection, analysis, and documentation for fish grading and branding.
- Review, compile, and provide technical inputs to national legislation and regulatory frameworks.
- Design and facilitate inclusive consultations, workshops, and validation meetings.
- Lead the development, adaptation, and pilot implementation of a fish grading system.
- Facilitate and guide exposure visits or knowledge-sharing initiatives.
- Develop and implement awareness-raising and capacity-building activities.
- Provide technical assistance to national authorities for certification and brand establishment.
- Provide technical inputs to the development and implementation of the Seychelles Seafood Brand marketing strategy.
- Assist in the implementation of national awareness, promotion, and capacity-building activities.
- Coordinate with stakeholders and prepare technical reports, documentation, and deliverables.
- Prepare an end of mission report with conclusions and recommendations.
- Performs any other duties that may be assigned.
Required Experience
At least 5 years of professional experience and knowledge in fish grading and post-harvest techniques, fisheries management and fisheries development.
Qualifications
University degree on fisheries sciences or sustainable fisheries management, in a field relevant to fisheries development.
