Overview

This role involves representing the Mission at meetings, monitoring the situation and investigating incidents, contributing to reporting, and advising on military issues within the OSCE Mission to Moldova.


Key Responsibilities
  • Representing the Mission at meetings of the Joint Control Commission
  • Taking part in monitoring of the situation and the investigation of incidents in the region
  • Contributing to the Mission’s reporting covering his/her field of responsibility
  • Contributing to the development of proposals for confidence building measures with respect to military and security forces
  • Advising the Head of Mission and other Mission members concerning military issues
  • Performing other duties in the fulfilment of the Mission’s mandate as required
Required Experience

Significant experience in arms control, monitoring ceasefire violations and peace-keeping operations and/or other relevant areas of military-related affairs. Experience in negotiations and liaison with governmental and military authorities. Minimum 6 years of relevant professional experience. Previous work experience preferably in an international environment or within operational missions. Previous experience with OSCE. Previous experience working in former CIS countries.

Qualifications

Officer / Warrant Officer training and/or university degree in a relevant technical field. First-level university degree in relevant field(s).

Languages Required
Professional fluency, both oral and written, in English and Russian languages and the ability to draft documents and brief on situations clearly and concisely.
Languages Preferred
Working knowledge of Romanian language would be an asset.
