Overview

This internship opportunity with UNDP Brazil's Communications Unit aims to provide graduate-level students with practical experience in multilateral technical cooperation, international studies, and inclusive growth, supporting the Communications Team in daily activities and strategic goals.


Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare daily news clippings.
  • Assist in website maintenance and updates.
  • Translate documents between English-Portuguese and Spanish-Portuguese.
  • Support writing communications materials, stories, reports, press releases, and meeting minutes.
  • Prepare social media content, including texts and cards.
  • Assist in creating and implementing social media strategy.
  • Explore new online and social media tools.
  • Prepare analytical reports on website and social media performance.
  • Assist in creating or updating design and layout of communication materials for online media.
  • Assist with video production and audio projects.
  • Gather information on UNDP's mandate and projects.
  • Support event preparation, organization, and coverage.
  • Provide photos of events and executives.
  • Assist in managing and updating mailing lists.
  • Handle telephone calls and requests from the press, public, partners, and internal clients.
  • Perform other related tasks as requested.
Required Experience

Computer skills are required. Keen interest in the field of development and UNDP’s mandate areas. Ability to work with Adobe Creative Suite, and related software, particularly InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator and Premiere. Knowledge of photojournalism.

Qualifications

Candidates must be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); OR enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s level or equivalent); OR have graduated with a university degree and, if selected, must start the internship within one-year of graduation. Fields of study include Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Advertising, Marketing, Design, and other related fields.

Languages Required
Portuguese must be the candidate’s mother tongue. Fluency in English is also required.
Languages Preferred
Knowledge of Spanish is an asset.
Contract Duration
Assignments normally last a minimum of six weeks and a maximum of six months. An internship may exceptionally be approved for a maximum total duration of nine months.

Remuneration
Where an intern is not financially supported by any institution or programme, a stipend intended to help cover basic daily expenses related to the internship, such as meals and transportation at the duty station, will be paid by UNDP. Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation and living expenses are the responsibility of the intern. Costs incurred by interns, including undertaking official travel at the request of UNDP, shall be reimbursed by UNDP on the same basis as costs incurred by staff members or costs reimbursed to staff members, including payment of daily subsistence allowance, as applicable.
